Real Madrid top UEFA club ranking for 2017
Real Madrid as a club and Spain as a national association have once again topped the UEFA rankings for the 2016/17 season.
It is the fourth straight year Real Madrid have come top in the ranking, since taking over from Barcelona after the 2013/14 Champions League triumph.
According to the report, Madrid toppled Barcelona based on their five years results in UEFA club competitions, after winning the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League.
As at 2014, Madrid's coefficient was 161.542; it has however increased to a a record 176.999 22.100 points better than second placed Bayern München.
Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are third and fourth respectively, while this year beaten Champions League finalist Juventus moved four places up to fifth.
Premier League champions Chelsea, are the highest ranked English team in 10. This follows a season without European football.
Europa League winners, Manchester United moved from 20 to 15th on the ranking, making them the fourth highest ranked Premier League team, behind Arsenal and Manchester City.
