Real Madrid end David De Gea chase
Real Madrid have reportedly ended their pursuit of the Manchester United shot stopper. Madrid have been closely linked with the Spanish number one for the last two seasons, and came close to landing the 26 year old in 2015. But couldn't wrap up the deal before the midnight close of the transfer window.
According to El Chiringuito, Madrid have decided to cool off their interest in De Gea as manager Zinedine Zidane has decided to stick with current goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Instead of De Gea, Madrid will wait for one more season before making a move for another top youngster in AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 18 year old Italian is one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in European football and may move to the Bernabeu for cheap next summer.
Donnarumma currently has just one more year left on his current AC Milan deal and would be more economical for Madrid.
The news will come as a huge relief to United, as De Gea was reported unsettled at the club towards the end of last season.
