Real Madrid end interest in Manchester United star

Real Madrid have reportedly given up on signing David de Gea from Manchester United.

De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for the past two years, and came close to making the move in 2015. But  the Spanish number one won't be making the move anytime soon.

Talks between Real Madrid and Manchester United for Alvaro Morata broke down, and United signed Lukaku instead. Real Madrid reportedly rejected a number of bids from United for the striker.

According to Don Balon, José Mourinho is angry at how Real Madrid handled the Morata negotiations, and for this reason and won't entertain negotiations with Real Madrid for De Gea.

Florentino Perez reportedly wants more competition for Navas, and is now looking at Athletic Bilbio youngster Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was impressive for the Spanish Under-21 team to the European Championship. Real Madrid can pull the deal through by meeting the player's buyout clause of €30m.

Madrid were once linked with AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the 18 year old has agreed a new deal with the Italian side.

For now Keylor Navas remains Madrid's number one going into the new season. The 30 year old Costa Rican has been key to Real Madrid's success over the past two years.
