Mourinho won't 'waste time and energy' chasing Gareth Bale

José Mourinho says he knows Gareth Bale is happy at Real Madrid and doesn't believe the player is in a mood to leave. And as such described efforts to sign such player as 'waste of time and energy.'

Bale endured an injury plagued last season, making just 19 La Liga appearances. In his absence the likes of Isco and Asensio played well and were effective replacements as Madrid went on to win the double. This has led to speculations that Madrid may consider selling Bale.

Manchester United have always been a possible destination for Bale should he decide to leave the Bernabeu, but Mourinho doesn't see that happening soon.

"I think it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, likes the challenge, likes the situation." Mourinho said on Saturday in America via FourFourTwo.

"He's in a club in a very good situation now. I never felt a desire from him to leave so why waste time and energy on that?"

Bale has been training with the rest of the Real Madrid squad in America, and will most likely play against United when both sides play on Sunday in the International Champions Cup.

He will also be hoping for an injury free season ahead.
