Only Real Madrid can tempt this Tottenham star away from Spurs
Real Madrid and Tottenham have engaged in some major transfers over the past few years. Two key players in the current Madrid squad are former Tottenham players.
Madrid signed Luka Modric from the North London club in 2012 for a fee in the region of £30m, and a year later signed Gareth Bale for a then world record fee of £85m.
Another star that has developed at White Hart Lane over the past three seasons is striker Harry Kane. The 23 year old has emerged as the Premier League highest goal scorer for the last two seasons.
He has attracted interest from Manchester United, who recently signed Romelu Lukaku after been strongly linked with Alvaro Morata. But according to former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood, Real Madrid stand a good chance of signing Harry Kane if they become interested.
Everyone was talking about Harry as a one-season wonder, and now he’s a three-season wonder, and next season he’ll be a four-season wonder because he will continue to score goals.
Sherwood told TalkSports.
He missed 11 games of the Premier League season but still finished up top scorer.
The guy’s got everything.
His biggest attribute, I tell everyone, is between his ears. He’s strong mentally, he knows where he needs to get – and he will get there.
I hope that he stays at Tottenham for the rest of his career.
Will he stay at Tottenham for the rest of his career? I think the only danger of that would be a team in another white shirt across the water in Madrid.
I think if Real Madrid come calling – like they did for [Luka] Modric, like they did for Gareth Bale – I think it would be a real test of the resolve of Tottenham whether they could keep him or not.
The Englishman scored 29 goals in 30 Premier League matches last season, helping Spurs to a second place finish.
At the moment, a Real Madrid bid for Harry Kane looks unlikely. With Benzema and Morata currently available.
The star striker that has been linked with Real Madrid this summer has been Monaco talisman Kylian Mbappe.
Kane is just 23 and still has a long career ahead of him. A Real Madrid interest in the next few years is not impossible. It will be fantastic if Real Madrid snap up the poster boy of English football since again, years after signing Michael Owen.
