Marco Asensio nets hatrick in Spain's U-21 Euro Cup opener
The Real Madrid youngster scored the first hatrick of the ongoing U-21 European Championship as Spain thrashed Macedonia in their opening match of the competition.
Saul Niguez gave the Spain the lead in the 10th minute, before Asensio scored his first of his night. A well taken shot from about 30 yards from goal lashed into the top right corner of the post.
Duelofeu scored the third before the first half break from a penalty, after a Egzon Bejtulai handball in the box.
Spain continued their dominance in the second half, with Asensio scoring his second in the 54th minute after a sweeping dribble before his slightly deflected shot find its way into the net.
His third was even more spectacular as he made a great run from his half, before his shot from about 25 yards beat the Macedonia goalkeeper in the 72nd minute.
The 21 year old has enjoyed a great debut season with Madrid playing a valuable role in the club's double win. He scored the last goal in the 4-1 Champions League final win over Juventus. He scored on his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla.
Asensio joined Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014, and has since progressed steadily at Madrid after loan spells at Mallorca and Espanyol. He scored 10 goals in all competitions for Madrid last season.
