Gerard Pique tips C. Ronaldo to win next Ballon d'Or award

The Barcelona defender was honest and non-sentimental in his assessment by saying arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo is the favorite for the next Ballon d'Or award.

It was a highly successful last season for Real Madrid, as Ronaldo led the Los Blancos to a historic double. Madrid became the first team to win the Champions League back to back, and also won the La liga on the last day of the season.

Pique says these trophies will count for Ronaldo.

Pique said in an interview via Marca.

The last nine awards have been shared between Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. If Ronaldo wins this, he will equal Messi's record of five Ballon d'or awards.

Ronaldo scored 25 La Liga goals, but was way behind the duo of Messi and Suarez on the scorer's chart. He was however the Champions League highest goal scorer with 13 goals.
