Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham: Player ratings

Real Madrid and Tottenham shared the spoils at the Bernabeu, as the host had to come from behind to snatch a point.

Real Madrid started the game on a bright note, with Karim Benzema missing a good chance in the opening minutes.

Tottenham took the lead from a Varane own goal in the 28th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo equalised from the penalty spot with three minutes to go in the first half, after Aurier brought down Toni Kroos in the box.

Both teams had chances to win the game, but the goalkeepers were on top of their games to keep the scoreline at 1-1.

Here's a rating of the Real Madrid players:

Keylor Navas

He made a number of great saves to keep the Los Blancos in the in the game. One from a Harry Kane header in the first half, and a couple of top saves in the second period of the match. (8)

Achraf Hakimi

Another great performance from the 18 year old. He was an extra outlet on the attack, and was solid defensively. His crosses and attacking intent were brilliant. (7.5)

Varane

A mixture of more good and less bad from the Frenchman. He did well on Harry Kane for on some one-on-one occasions, but also wasn't convincing with some defensive duties. (6)

Sergio Ramos

A top display from the Real Madrid captain. He made a number of timely blocks and was calmly effective. Denied the Tottenham attackers space. (7)

Marcelo

Did well on the attack, but defensively, the left flank was Tottenham's most dangerous attacking route for most periods of the game. He sometimes struggled to cope with the pace and power of Aurier and Sissoko. (6.5)

Casemiro

Provided a perfect defensive cover for the Real Madrid back four. Made some attacking adventures, and could have had an assist to his name. In all, a quiet but effective game from the Brazilian. (7)

Toni Kroos

Kept the team moving, and and combined his defensive duties and attacking responsibility perfectly. (6.5)

Luka Modric

Played a key role in Real Madrid's transiting from defence to attack. Did well in the midfield battle against the likes of Winks and Eriksen. (7.5)

Isco

He added impetus to the Madrid attack with his passes and movements, popped up in great positions, but the perfect final ball was just lacking. (6.5)

Cristiano Ronaldo

Was threatening as always, and scored Real Madrid's only goal from the spot. Had a number of shots at goal saved by Hugo Lloris. (7)

Karim Benzema

He missed some of the game's best chances, one in the opening minutes of the game, forced another good save from the Tottenham goalkeeper in the second half. (6)

Substitutes

Marco Asensio

Came on to add more bite to the Real Madrid attack, but didn't have enough of the ball. (6)

Lucas Vasquez

Came on too late. (No ratings)
