Real Madrid squad second most expensive in Spain


The current Real Madrid squad is the second most expensive in Spain and sixth most expensive in the world according to the research group CIES Football Observatory.

This summer, Real Madrid made three main signings. Dani Ceballos joined from Real Betis, Theo Hernández from Atletico Madrid and Vinicus Jr. from Flamengo.  He  was however loaned back to the club.

The major exits from the Bernabeu were that of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea and James Rodriguez's two year loan move to Bayern.

According to the survey and report, the current Real Madrid squad is valued at €497m.

Real are behind Barcelona in the ranking. The Copa del rey winners sold Neymar to PSG for a world record £200. And then splashed the cash on Dembele, who was signed for over £100m. The Barcelona squad was valued at €628m.

Manchester City have the most expensively assembled squad in world football, followed by French big spenders Paris St-Germain. Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona complete the top 5 with Real Madrid catching up at six.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only two Spanish team in the top 10, while Atletico Madrid at 19 makes it three Spanish teams within the top 20.
