Confirmed: Dani Carvajal out indefinately: Suffering from viral infection

Real Madrid have confirmed that right back Dani Carvajal is suffering from a viral infection that affect the heart. This will definitely rule him out of the match against Espanyol tomorrow.

The Spanish international has been an ever present figure for Real Madrid this season, playing in all matches played so far this season. No time frame was given for the player’s return.

Following tests carried out on Dani Carvajal, he has been diagnosed with a viral pericardium infection. His recovery will continue to be assessed.

Carvajal’s expected absence adds to Zidane’s defensive worries. The duo of Marcelo and Theo Hernandez are out injured, with Nacho playing at left back in the last two matches. 

The player will also sit out Spain’s next set of qualifiers, though the lack of club football for the next two weeks may help Real Madrid with the time to get some injured players back.  

Achraf Hakimi is an option for Zidane at right back, though the Frenchman may opt for experience and stability with either Lucas Vasquez or Casemiro at right back.
