Checkout impressive Cristiano Ronaldo records for Portugal

It is the time for international matches, and 17 Real Madrid players have been called up by their countries for national assignments. A number of the Real Madrid players called have impressed with their national team. and one of such is Ronaldo.

Though currently serving a five-match ban at club level, the 32-year-old led by example scoring a hat-trick as Portugal boost their chances of securing a World Cup ticket with a 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands.

His first goal was from a scissors kick, and it was his fifth hat-trick for Portugal. Ronaldo captained the team to their 2016 European Championship triumph in France and is undoubtedly Portugal's
greatest and most successful footballer.

Here are a number of stats and figures from Ronaldo's international career:

- Ronaldo made his senior debut for Portugal on 20 August 2003.

- He is Portugal's most capped footballer with 145 senior appearances as at 03 August 2017. The next player after him is another Real Madrid legend in Louis Figo with 127 caps.

- He is also Portugal's highest goal scorer ever with 78 goals. That is an average of 0.54 goal per match.

- He is the youngest player to reach 100 caps for Portugal at 27 years, 8 months and 11 days. (On16 October 2012).

- With his 78 international goals, Ronaldo has scored one more goal than Pele for his country.

- Ronaldo is the second on the list of Europe's all-time top scorers for a country. Only Ferenc Puskás with 88 goals lies ahead of him in Europe.

- Ronaldo is the fifth all-time leading international goalscorer.

- 39 of Ronaldo's goals have come at home, 27 away and 12 at final tournaments.

- He has scored in 54 games.  Portugal won 45 of them, drew four and lost five.

- He has scored four hat-tricks and also scored four goals in a match against Andorra on 7 October 2016.  He has scored 13 braces.

- He holds the record for most matches played in World Cup for Portugal, having played in 13 World Cup matches.

- He also holds the record for the most matches played in European Championship finals for Portugal. He has appeared in 21 matches at Euros. (2004 , 2008 ,2012 and 2016).

- He has scored nine goals at the European Championships, the highest for his country.


The downside:
- Ronaldo has never scored against France, Spain, Germany, Italy or England.
