C. Ronaldo set for Real Madrid return
Ronaldo will be available for selection when Real Madrid begin the defence of their Champions League title on Wednesday as the Los Blancos host APOEL.
The Portuguese has missed Real Madrid's last four competitive matches. This is because of the five match ban he got for pushing the referee in the Spanish Super Cup first leg. Real Madrid went on to win the second leg in Ronaldo's absence but have struggled for attacking firepower in the league.
Consecutive home draws against Valencia and Levante has seen Real Madrid go four points behind arch rivals and table toppers Barcelona.
Real Madrid results in Ronaldo's absence
Super Cup: Real Madrid 2-0 Barcelona
La Liga: Deportivo 0-3 R Madrid
La Liga: Real Madrid 2-2 Valencia
La Liga : Real Madrid 1-1 Levante
In between those games, Ronaldo played for Real Madrid in a club friendly against Fiorentina, scoring a goal and assisting the other as Madrid won 2-1. He has also played for Portugal in World Cup qualifying matches against Faroe Island and Hungary. He scored a hat-trick against Faroe Islands and assisted Portugal's only goal in their 1-0 win over Hungry.
Ronaldo's return comes at a crucial time. Karim Benzema is out injured, and Gareth Bale has been lackadaisical in front of goal, missing a number of great chances against Levante.
He will however still miss Madrid's next league fixture, against Real Sociedad. That will be the last game he will miss domestically.
