Real Madrid star returns to training ahead of UEFA Super Cup clash

Real Madrid could welcome Cristiano Ronaldo for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Manchester United on Tuesday in Skopje.

The Portuguese missed Real Madrid's pre-season tour of the United States, after he was given an extended break due to his participation in the Confederations Cup.

Ronaldo has had a mixed summer. He was accused of evading taxes by Spanish authorities, which has led to news of his possible exit from Real Madrid. On the positive side, the 32 year old welcomed his twins.

The player returned to training with the rest of the Real Madrid squad three days ago, and the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday may come in too early for Ronaldo.

Ronaldo however looked sharp in training and could get some minutes against Manchester United. He played his last competitive match on June 28 against Chile.

He is however expected to feature in at least one of the Spanish Super Cup ties. Real Madrid face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday, August 13, before hosting the second leg three days later at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo is expected to be fully fit for Real Madrid's La liga opening fixture against Deportivo on August 20.

In his absence, Real Madrid lacked attacking intensity and cutting edge in their pre-season games.
