Chelsea preparing €80m Morata bid
Chelsea have turned to Alvaro Morata after losing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. And the Blues are willing to offer €80m for the Spanish international.
United were believed to be in pole position to sign Morata, and had a number of bids rejected by Madrid.
United however surprised many when they announced that a £75m agreement had been reached with Everton for Lukaku. The Belgian had been seriously linked with a return to Stanford Bridge.
According to AS, Chelsea will now offer €80m and with add-ons which may see the worth of the deal rise to €90m, which is what Madrid is requesting for.
According to the report, Antonio Conte holds Morata in high regard but the Chelsea technical team led by Michael Emanalo were the ones pushing for Lukaku.
Depending on how talks between both teams evolve, Morata may not travel with the Madrid squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
If the deal pulls through, Morata will sign a five year deal with the Premier League Champions worth €6m per year.
