Real Madrid reject Manchester United's Alvaro Morata bid

Manchester United have reportedly made a £52.4m for Alvaro Morata that has been turned down by Real Madrid.

The 24 year old Spanish international played second fiddle to Karim Benzema for most of last season.

He scored 15 La Liga goals in 26 league games, boasting of one of the best match to goal ratio in the league. He was Real Madrid's second highest goal scorer in the League, scoring three goals more than Karim Benzema and 10 goals less C. Ronaldo's haul of 25 league goals.

According to Sky Sports in Italy, David De Gea was not part of the offer tabled by Manchester United, and Madrid want £78m for the striker.

Morata has been frustrated with the lack of playing time at the club and had been linked with move to the Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus  recently.

Manchester United are in dire need of a striker after top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic sustained an injury that has rule him out of the start of next season. Atletico Madrid's recent transfer ban has also affected United's pursuit of  Antoine Griezmann. As the club can't afford to lose their playmaker without replacing him.
