Opinion: Three reasons why Morata will want to leave Real Madrid

It is a fairly surprising scenenio that the Real Madrid's second highest goal scorer last season isn't guaranteed a starting place in the team.

Despite having a better scoring ratio and netting more goals than Karim Benzema, Morata is still the team's second choice striker.

The 24 year old has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus. And according to report, Morata is keen on leaving Madrid.

RealMadridFocus look at three things that can make Morata leave:

1. Lack of enough playing time.

The Spanish international has spoken of his desire to get regular playing time.

“I’d like to play in every game, like everybody else. You always want to contribute wherever you are." Morata said towards the end of last season.

He started 14 La Liga matches last season, compared to Benzema's start in 23 league matches.

En-route Madrid's Champions League triumph last season, Morata started only one match in the Champions League, while Benezema started 12 matches.

All these point to the fact that Morata may not getting the playing time he deserves. The Spaniard scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, three more than Benzema.

2. Next year is a World Cup year.

With a little less than a year to the start of Russia 2018, the aim of most players next season will be to play their way to represent their country at the World Cup.

Morata will have to compete with the likes of Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and some youngsters as to who will be Spain's first choice striker at the mundial. Being a second choice striker at Madrid will hurt that ambition.

3. Real Madrid's anticipated move for Mbappe.

Real Madrid is a team that always seek to improve by signing the next big star whenever there is an opportunity.

Currently, the next golden boy of European football is Kylian Mbappé. And it is not surprising that Madrid have been linked with the 18 year old striker.

His move to Madrid could be aided by a number of factors. He and Zidane are French, and the AC Monaco youngster sees the Madrid boss as a perfect role model.

A Madrid move for Mbappe will point Morata to exit door at the Bernabeu, but merely courting the Frenchman is enough hand writing for Morata to see.
