Zidane wants Ronaldo to sign new Real Madrid contract 'as soon as possible'

The Real Madrid manager wants the current world footballer of the year to officially commit his future to the club as soon as possible.

The 32-year-old once again showed his importance to the Los Blancos as he scored the only goal in the FIFA World Club Cup final to help the club win their fifth title of the year. Ronaldo also scored the first goal in Madrid's 2-1 semi-final win over Al-Jazira.  The Portuguese is now the highest goal scorer at the FIFA Club World Cup with seven goals.

Ronaldo's current deal at Madrid runs till 2021, and the player recently revealed he doesn't want to sign a new deal at the club.

I am doing very well at Real Madrid. I have four years left on my contract and I don't want to renew. I am fine.

Ronaldo said (via Goal) after Madrid's 3-1 loss to Tottenham in the Champions League.

This has led to speculations that the Portuguese star may be contemplating exiting the Bernabeu.

Zidane, however, wants his star man to retire at the club.

Of course, as soon as possible.
Zidane told the club's website when asked if he would you like Ronaldo to sign a new contract after Real Madrid lifted the 2017 FIFA World Club Cup trophy in Dubai.

It’s crucial for us that he stays here right until the end of his career. He’s here at his club and his home. Nobody is going to repeat what he’s been able to achieve and what he is still achieving. I hope he stays here until he retires.

Ronaldo has enjoyed a highly successful 2017 at Madrid. Individually, he's won the FIFA World player of the year and the Ballon d'Or. He was also the highest goal scorer last season's Champions League.
