Chelsea star tips Ronaldo for 2017 Ballon d'Or award
Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard says Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to win this year Ballon d'Or award because of the number of trophies he's won over the past twelve months.
The organisers of the award have released the 30 man shortlist for the award. Hazard is in the running for the award, but as usual, the prime contenders for the award is Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid won the La Liga and Champions League last season, with Ronaldo scoring 42 goals in the process and the Portuguese is the favourite for the award.
Hazard says he must win all the titles available before he can be considered a main contender for the award.
I think this year, Ronaldo deserves it because he won with Portugal, he won the Champions League, he won La Liga.
Hazard told Skysports .
If one day I want to win, I just have to win everything.
For the last 10 years, it has always been Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but Neymar is coming and a couple of others so we will see when Messi and Ronaldo stop playing, maybe we have a bet chance but for the moment, it is not in my head.
He added.
Ronaldo enjoyed a fantastic last season, and has started this season on a bright note. He has however missed five matches for Real Madrid this season because of his five match ban for shoving the referee in the first leg of the Super Cup match.
He has just scored his first La Liga goal of the season today against Getafe, and is way behind in the race for the La Liga golden boot in this early stage of the season.
Ronaldo won the award last year, and will equal Messi's record of winning the award five times if he wins it later in the year.
