Real Madrid duo miss training ahead of Sociedad clash
Real Madrid injury crises may have deepen as the team will be without Toni Kroos and Jesus Vallejo for the trip to Anoeta tomorrow.
Both players missed training on Saturday, and Zidane has confirmed that they will both miss the match on Sunday but allayed fears, confirming that their injuries are not serious.
"We won't be able to call on Kroos or Vallejo." Zidane said in his pre-match press conference.
"We cannot count on someone who does not train the day before the game, and that has happened with Jesus (Vallejo) and Toni (Kroos).
"Their problems are not too serious, but we never take risks. It is inevitable that there are moments with injuries and suspensions over a season."
Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo are suspended for the match. Ronaldo will be missing the last game of his five match ban for pushing the referee in the Spanish Super Cup first leg. Marcelo was sent off for falling a player late into the 1-1 draw against Levante, and was given a three match ban thereafter.
Toni Kroos and Jesus Vallejo join Karim Benzema and Mateo Kovacic as the currently injured players in the Real Madrid squad.
Real Madrid have drawn their last two games in the league, and are four points behind Barcelona. The Blaugranas can widen that gap to seven points, as they play on Saturday.
Real Sociedad are yet to drop a point this season, and are currently joint top with Barcelona. They were 4-0 winners against Rosenberg in the Europa League on Thursday. Madrid also enjoyed a 3-0 win over APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday.
