Zidane agrees new Real Madrid deal
The Real Madrid manager has agreed a new deal with the Champions League and La Liga winners.
The former Real Madrid midfielder was appointed as the first team manager in January 2016, replacing Rafa Benitez. He managed the Real Madrid B team before then. In less than two years in charge, he has led the team to one La Liga triumph, two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and one World Club Cup triumph.
My relationship with Real Madrid does not depend on contracts or money. I am happy with the faith the club has shown me and I'm pleased with the work my players put in.
Zidane told the club's website ahead of Sunday's Spanish Super Cup first leg at Camp Nou.
I don't have a termination clause. I could sign for 20 years but I know where I am and what my aims are. Who knows, maybe within a year I won't be here and that's that. Real Madrid and I will never disagree on things. I really enjoy my job here.
The new deal is a three year deal that will keep Zidane at Real Madrid till 2020.
Real Madrid host the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday, August 16, before kicking off their La Liga defence away against Deportivo La Corona on Sunday, August 20.
