Manchester United reject world record bid from Real Madrid for De Gea: Report

Real Madrid have had a record bid of £60m made for David De Gea rejected by Manchester United according to Sky Reports.

Madrid have been long admirers of the Spanish international who moved from city rivals Atletico to Manchester United in 2011. Since making the move, De Gea has metamorphosed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

De Gea was close to a move back to Madrid back in 2015, but the late proposed move failed to beat the transfer deadline.

Despite Keylor Navas' fine form, Madrid have not ceased their pursuit of De Gea.

The £60m made by Madrid, if accepted by United will make De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper in history. The bid eclipses the £33m Juventus paid to Parma for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001.

De Gea made only three appearances for United in the Europa League last season as Mourinho led his team back into competing with Europe's club elite by winning the Europa League. Sergio Romero was preferred to De Gea for most of the competition, and was on the bench for the final.

Signing De Gea will be huge for Madrid, as it would mean having one of the finest goalkeeper between the sticks, which is what a team like Madrid deserves.
