Cristiano Ronaldo confirms Confederations Cup exit to meet his twins for first time

The Real Madrid star will not feature in Portugal's third and fourth place match in order to see his twins for the first time.

Portugal were denied a spot in the finals of the competition after losing to Chile on penalties in the semifinals. The match ended 0-0 after extra time.
The Portuguese route to the final was blocked by an impressive Claudio Bravo who saved three penalties from Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani, as the Chileans scored theirs. Portugal will now face the loser of the second semifinal clash between Mexico and Germany on Sunday without Ronaldo.

The 32 year has confirmed for the first time that he is a father again, after weeks of rumor that his twins have been delivered in America via a surrogate mother.

Ronaldo posted on Facebook

I was in the service of the National Team, as it always happens, body and soul, even though I knew my two children were born.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give the Portuguese joy.
The President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the National Coach had an attitude today that sensitized me and I will not forget. I am very happy to finally be able to be with my children for the first time.

This means Ronaldo will be leaving Russia soonest.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF)  in a statement confirmed that it had been informed that Ronaldo had become a father before the start of the Confederations Cup describing the player's attitude as "a gesture that we want to highlight and praise"

Cristiano Ronaldo junior, Ronaldo's first son was born in June 2010.

Ronaldo was an important figure for the Portugal team during the competition as he won three man of the match awards in the four matches he played in. That included all group stage matches.
